First Post

Introduction

I always hated blog posts that were labeled "First post", but since that's what this is, it's an apt description.  I've tried blogging in the past and it never lasted long, but my health coach suggested that I journal about what meals I like the most.  Since I type better/faster than I write a blog makes sense.  It also makes sense to keep all the foods I like to eat in one place.  I often forget about recipes and hopefully this will give me a place to store the best recipes.  I'll probably also talk about my hubby (henceforth referred to as "Prince") our vacations and our journey to have little princes/princesses.  I guess that would then upgrade us to King and Queen.

100 Day Challenge

So, I joined the 100 day challenge as put forth in my healthy lives Facebook group.  This week was the start and it was one of the busiest, craziest weeks I've had.  I think I ate out almost everyday this week.  Not normal at all for me, but oh well.  Also, no exercise.  But, since I started out terribly I have nowhere to go but up, right?

Food for this Week

1.  Balsamic Chicken with Spinach/string beans (crockpot):  I made this last week in the crockpot and it was surprisingly delicious.  I will double the spinach though because I need veggies and I love spinach

2.  Curry Chicken Salad with raisins:  Just has a brainstorm for this.  Pretty simple and light for lunches this week.  Hmmm... maybe I'll get baby peppers and stuff the peppers with chicken salad.  Yum...And avocado....

3.  Smoked Paprika chicken wrapped in turkey bacon:  OMG this dish is delicious!  And so, so easy.

4.  Honey-mustard chicken: Easy staple

5. Pasta arribiata for the king

My Thoughts

I am a planner for things that are important for me.  I have PCOS which means that getting pregnant may be an ordeal.  I am also a believer in God and I know he has a plan for me.  I am praying for discernment and wisdom to figure out when/what kind of help to get to deal with our probable infertility.  That being said, I reiterate I am a planner.  I have already done a ton of research on this area and here is a list of things that I would like/plan to have (and by plan I know I may or may not have)

1.  Doula- This is pretty important to me.  I'm hoping the king will share my view when the time comes

2.  Midwife- This is most likely a pipe dream.  Being plus-sized and having a very strong family history of infertility probably puts me square in the OB camp, but you never know

3.  Babywearing- I was blessed that my parents (actually more-so my dad) wore me as a baby, so no friction from our family.  I still have a lot to learn, but I'm hoping to wear my baby if/when we have one

4.  Baby-led Weaning- Now this is mostly a British thing, but it makes perfect sense.  Baby eats what you eat (within reason).  I did mention this to my cousin who has a baby who looked at me like I was crazy. She was like you're going to kill your baby-she might choke.  True, but...there are safe ways to do this.

5. Afrikan-centered homeschooling- Okay this is a touchy subject with the king.  I was completely against homeschooling (I am a teacher...)  However, God truly touched my heart and made me reconsider my stance on homeschooling.  Difficulties- right now I am the primary breadwinner, so... But I believe God will make a way.  I am trying to join a lot of groups to do my due diligence.  I am convinced these groups think I am nuts because I want to join before I have kids, but I want to know what everything is about before I commit to anything.
Now for the Afrikan part- My mother raised me with a strong background in my African history.  The king has had next to none.  I do not want to raise my children without pride and knowledge of their wonderful history.
